Why Most People Hate Their Jobs
Article by: Nikisha Thompson
Fear, lack of knowledge, low self-confidence, or a tendency to procrastinate. When children are growing up, they have very elaborate dreams for their futures. Somewhere between the end of high school and full-fledged adulthood, that dream gets lost and turns into one of convenience rather than passion. What I mean is that we often let go of what we really want, to accept what's available and easy to accomplish.
I know so many people that aspired to be nurses, singers, designers, and business owners, that now work in very different fields. They are delayed from getting the education, training or preparation they need to be successful for a variety of reasons. Don't let life events, fear, or procrastination stand in the way of your dreams.
So how do you avoid ending up in a position you hate?
1. Don't Settle! Decide on what you want and don't change it to fit what you think may be easier to achieve. The most challenging, fun, and well-paying careers require work and preparation.
2. Realize that the longer you wait to take the first step, the further you will be from your dreams. Start researching careers by looking through Career Guides. Visit an education resource website like Careers&Education.com for free college information. You can find programs that work with your schedule so that you don't have to leave your current position. 3. Let your ambition be your motivation. When it gets tough, just imagine yourself living the life you've always dreamed of. Think about all the changes that will take place and how much happier you will be. Keep at it and I promise, you will see results.
If you can imagine a lifestyle, you can achieve it. The process of getting there is often very overwhelming for most, but you will never reach your goals without taking the first step, and the second, and the third. The journey always seems long before you begin it and as you are going through it, but the satisfaction you feel when you have achieved your goals makes it more than worth it. When you look back on your experience, you will realize that it was a small price to pay for your happiness.
