How to Become a Successful Affiliate Marketer

Affiliate marketing has become the new craze of those interested in making a full-time, passive income from home. This business venture involves creating a website around a specific niche (topic), and adding links to connect your readers with products and services related to your niche. Many companies will pay you a commission on customer sales directed through your website. In essence, you create a website, add relevant content to drive traffic (visitors) to your website, and add links to your affiliates.
To shed light on this opportunity, I will offer you some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that affiliate marketing is not nearly as cut and dry as it appears. The good news is that there is a lot of help available to help you be successful. The majority of the people who enter this venture fail for two reasons: (1) Their website does not receive enough traffic, and/or (2)The visitors that view the site, do not purchase anything. To eliminate these issues, you must carefully follow these 2 steps:
1. Choose your niche very carefully! Before you even get started on building your website, you must make sure that your subject matter is one that people are interested in. You must also be sure that are enough affiliate programs relevant to your niche. Remember that affiliate programs are the way that you will make money through your affiliate website, so there should be enough available for you to select the ones that fit the flow of your site. Do some research on Google Adwords to see what keywords are popular and get a feel for what people are searching for. The key is to choose a topic that is marketable, but not too competitive.
2. Focus on content! You content is your most prized possession on your affiliate website. The key to traffic, search engine optimization, and ultimately selling your products is unique, keyword-rich content. You website should have an abundance of information about your niche, because this is why people will visit your website in the first place. Your content must contain the words and phrases people will type in search engine fields (refer back to the keyword research you did in Step 1). Think about the different things you might type in Yahoo or Google if you were looking for information on your topic. Make sure you include these words and phrases throughout your site.
The trick to affiliate marketing is to not randomly place your links, or fill your page with colorful banners that people are unlikely to click. Instead, offer valuable information and offer advice to solve a problem. Explain the benefits of the product in relation to the problem, but be sure that you are adding value, not selling a product.
If you do not consider yourself the best writer, you can still be successful at affiliate marketing. Do an Internet search for article writers and compare prices and services. Or better yet, save some money and take the route I took. Use PLR (Private Label Rights) articles to help you create valuable content. These articles have no restrictions and you can modify them, rewrite them, take credit for them, combine them to make free reports or ebooks, and anything else you can think of that will add value to your site. I want to emphasize that if you are creating content for your site, you should only use PLR articles for inspiration! They can give you a great starting point and structure for writing your articles. If you duplicate the content that you receive, you run the risk of being penalized by the search engines (who absolutely hate duplicate content!). PLR articles can be used in their original form for e-courses, free reports, and ebooks, that are not a part of your website.
