My Understanding of The Secret Part I
Article by: Nikisha Thompson

If you are unfamiliar with "The Secret", it refers to the concept of manifest destiny - the belief that you can manifest anything in your life by focusing your thoughts on it. For those who don't firmly believe in the supernatural, the idea of manifest destiny seems like nothing more than optimism. While seemingly abstract, the concept has proven to be common practice in the daily lives of the most successful. We must consistently and intensly think about what we want, ask for it, and receive it.

Manifest Destiny proclaims that the provider of all things, the entity you must depend on to approve your requests, is The Universe. In my opinion, The Universe is synonymous with your higher power of choice. By calling Him, "The Universe", manifest destiny remains universal to all regardless of religion. The beliefs are that the energy that you send out must be synonymous with your desires. Ever wonder why you don't receive what you want, even though you focus on it? Well manifest destiny proclaims that doubts hinder your progress. Every time you let a negative thought enter your mind, you are telling The Universe that that is what you want instead.

If you are doubtful about the power of The Secret, think about how many negative people you know that are highly successful. Probably not many. Negative people surround themselves with doubtful energies and are more likely to attract those types of energies into their life. Is it worth giving  positive thoughts a try? Absolutely. But the problem with The Secret is that most people misunderstand the fundamental principles. Take time to learn about manifest destiny and understand how manifesting works if you plan on being successful at it.

There are those who manifest their wants consistently, and others who fail to manifest anything. What's the difference between the two groups? Well most importantly, those that are able to manifest are in tune with their purpose. To believe in manifest destiny is to believe in "destiny". Believe that you are here for something great and ask for that purpose to be revealed to you. Once you are in tune with that purpose, the things you try to manifest will be on that path. If you have no idea why you're here and no clue about what you're supposed to be doing, than you can almost certainly guarantee that you will not receive the things you ask for.

If someone's purpose is to work with children and they continuously try to manifest a job as a construction worker, there will be a conflict between their desires and The Universe's plan. Before you begin asking for things, ask for understanding so that you will understand what your life should be like. Once you are confident with that knowledge, manifesting becomes easy.
